Sierra Filtering by Tags

Last updated on 28 Oct, 2025

Overview

Tags can be used to perform actions in your app from Sierra, such as to invite a client or to help you categorize and filter your clients based on actions they’ve taken in the app.

Some tags are auto-generated when an action happens in the app and others you can manually add or remove as needed. By managing tags, you can create filters to easily find clients based on certain information or scenarios.

For example, when a client signs up for your app, an App signup completed tag will be added to their profile in Sierra. If you want a list of clients that have been invited to the app, but not completed sign-up, filter to show clients that do not have the  App signup completed tag. You can then use the list to reach out to those clients and see if they need help with the signup process.

Another example is chat messaging. When a client sends a chat in the app, the appChatMessage tag is added to the client profile. When you reply to a chat, you can remove the appChatMessage tag. You can then later filter to show clients that do not have the appChatMessage tag and you’ll have a list of clients that you’re waiting for a reply from without leaving Sierra.

Create Filters

In Sierra, open the Assigned Leads tab and select Advanced Search

In the dropdowns, choose Tag as the filter source and then select the criteria and value to filter by. For example, to filter to see profiles that have completed signup, you would choose Currently Equals Any Of in the middle dropdown and then App signup completed in the last dropdown.

When you’re done click Add Filter to apply it.

If you would like to save the filter for later use, click Save as Smart Filter

The concept is the same as using and filtering regular tags in Sierra.
